The embargo lifted on the press release New Campaign press release for long term acquired brain injury, including stroke recovery & care manifesto 2012 for the UKABIF.

We listened to four amazing fighting stories from two incredibly brave survivors, and two survivors who couldn’t attend personally. (They were read on their behalf.)

Incredibly, every acquired brain injury is so different, yet hugely moving. It seems to me, that there are some common themes rearing their brain injured head!

Those Acquired Brain Injured Survivors who recover more, to a more superior level than others, seem to share commonalities:

Their own WILL &
EFFORT & and
ACCESS TO GOOD L/T THERAPY.

I wonder if you agree?

BRAIN INJURED PEOPLE, (LIKE ME) will continue to make improvements. (Large or small.)

There is no such thing as a patient ‘plateauing’. In my opinion, it’s actually another way to say that the recovery money has run out!

But, be aware!

You must really WANT the improvements.
Then make your individual goals ‘public’,
Then put the work in.
Then at the same time, get access to the good help/therapy, that you will need in the long term to achieve your goals.

So it was a fabulous long day, capped off with a typically cavalier comment from me, to Lord Walton of Detchant.
As he escorted us all down a ‘secret stairway passage’, (to the only room in The House Of Lords where one can drink anything but ‘Houses of Parliament’ bottled water), I let rip, accidentally!

In true comic style, I blurted out to My Lord, “oh how exciting, we are taking the ‘back passage’.
Class?
